Personal And Home Defense Products

Home defense products are showing a rise in sales figures.

Not only home protection products, but also personal defense products show higher sales.

According to the media and several website, the rise in home security products and personal security devices show a significant rise in sales compared to a few years ago.

Reason for that, they claim, is the declining economy.

The slow economy makes the crime rates go up and those 2 tend to go hand in hand,

When the economy goes down, the crime rates get higher and visa versa.

This all gives people a feeling of not being safe anymore, like they used to feel

People who read this numbers are taking action and try to find products to protect their home and themselves.

More people are looking for a product, either to protect their home from a burglary or possible home invasion, or defend them self and protect their personal safety with a personal security device.

The opportunity makes the thief.

This is a well know saying and it is true.

By making it harder to get in your house or business we lower the change of becoming a victim of a crime.

Most burglaries are a planned action, and your house or business probably have been watched and observed for a while. They try to find the weak spot in your security plan and daily routine.

There are a few easy steps you can take to protect your property.

  • Make sure that you change you daily routines
  • Use easy to self install door and window alarms
  • Observe your surroundings.
  • And the one I think is the most important. Awareness.

Be aware of the situation you are in and prevent yourself of becoming in a situation that you can be an easy victim of a crime.

It is my personal opinion that a personal security device like a gun, stun gun, pepper spray, should be our last resort.

There are so many home security devices available to prevent a criminal from entering our house, that these personal defense weapons should be the last thing on our defense list.

But in the case you need it here is a list of five personal defense weapons, I think are useful inside and outside.

Although a lot of people advocate for the use of a gun, I did not put this on my list. I am not a weapon expert, and can not advice you on this subject.

Pepper spray. Effective on a short distance and gives you time to get away.

Batons. Effective, but you need to get close to your attacker.

Personal alarms. Most of the times they make a lot of noise and can scare an attacker off.

Stun gun. Very effective, but you have to get close to your attacker.

Taser. Just as effective as a stun gun, but you can keep a distance between you and your attacker.

Of course there are a lot more self defense products and a choice for the right one can also depend on your physical condition.

What ever kind of personal and home defense products you buy to protect your self and you house or business, make sure that you get used to them.

Nothing is worse than keeping a personal protection device on you and when it comes to it, not knowing how to use it.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Laminated Glass

Those of you already have a home security system INSTALLED may be looking to beef up your security level even more by installing laminated glass in your windows. Laminated glass is also referred to as security glass and is designed to keep burglars from breaking into houses through windows. It is much harder to break than is regular glass, which is why it is so attractive for people who want to take their home security system to the next level.

As with any security component, there are advantages and disadvantages to installing laminated glass. Before you make the decision to replace all your regular glass windows with security glass, be sure to consider these pros and cons to ensure you are making the right decision for your needs.

Advantages:

• Security. This is the biggest reason why people want to install laminated glass. It is simply harder to break and therefore more secure.

Safety. In the event that a child in your home throws something that hits your window, it is less likely to break. Therefore, the child is safer.

Sound reduction. Laminated glass does not allow as much sound to get through as does regular glass, meaning your home will be quieter because there will be fewer outside sounds getting through.

Protection from adverse weather conditions. People who live in areas that are prone to hurricanes or tornados can rest assured that the laminated glass will be less susceptible to wind and hail.

Durability. Laminated windows will need to be replaced less often than regular glass windows. It simply lasts longer.

Disadvantages:

Expense. Laminated windows are quite a bit more expensive than regular windows. This is because they require a lot more steps during the manufacturing process and because they have several layers of material. You might only be able to replace one or two windows at a time, gradually replacing all of them over time due to how much they cost.

Not a whole lot of manufactures exist. This not only drives the cost of laminated windows up, but also limits your choices. In addition, you might have to wait a few weeks before your windows are made, which can leave you vulnerable at the time.

There are many good reasons for installing laminated windows, including the fact that your home security system will be more effective as a result. However, there are a few disadvantages that you need to consider before spending your money on this expensive product.

Better Security With Biometric Deadbolt Locks And Other Keyless Access Control Systems

Every now and then we hear about incidents of break-ins in homes and offices. This leads us to wonder about the safety and security of our own home. Does it really take that much to keep our home and places of work safe from intruders? Do we really need to invest in expensive security and alarm systems? Is there any way for us to better secure our homes with affordable security devices, like deadbolt locks? And are access control systems really effective in keeping intruders from breaking in to our homes and offices? It might all seem a gamble but there is always something that we can do to ensure better security in our homes and places of work.

One way of having better security in our homes and offices is through having a security guard. However, it can be quite expensive to hire someone to keep watch of our homes. Having a security guard in the office is necessary but having one in our homes is too much. What we can do is to look into security solutions meant for use in homes and offices, like deadbolt locks. However, some might be apprehensive about having traditional locks as they are prone to bumping and picking.

A better option that we can look into comes in the form of biometric access control systems. This kind of security solution can make us forget about worrying about losing our keys or misplacing them. They cannot be easily bumped or picked, because they require a unique body part or behavior to be included in their database so that access can be given or approved. The most common forms of identification include hand prints, finger prints, iris images and voice patterns.

Biometric deadbolt locks are all over the market. And unlike what we might be thinking, they are not as expensive as they seem. There are models specifically designed for home use and they have price tags that we can afford. All we need to is to spend time learning more about them and reviewing if they can be easily installed into our homes and offices.

Other factors that we might consider in evaluating biometric deadbolt locks and other keyless access control systems include technical support. We must be able to have access to a support technician in case we encounter problems in installing these biometric devices in our homes and places of work.
